“Addictions can be very, very bad but addiction itself is not bad.

It’s a case of what you’re addicted to.

You better live each day like it’s your last, ‘cos one day you’re going to be right”.

Ray Charles.

“Well, this trip to Nepal in 2009 was just amazing and I think this is one of the best places to fly in the world. I haven't come across a place where I really want to go back to but this is one of one of them.

I had spent only a few weeks there but I could easily spend all season just flying, climbing and mountain biking there.

I flew every single day except a one day bike trip but on this trip I had a bad crash on the bike and realised that flying is much, much safer for me, so I went flying for rest of the time there! I met up with 3 pilots who were there for the same reason of freestyle/acro flying and to fly, fly, fly and to feed, feed, feed!

We teamed up to hire a van and take other pilots for cheap transport up to the take-off so that we can fly as much as we could.

We basically flew from the sunrise to sunset and the van was packed with keen pilots all day long and some started getting into acro. The conditions were perfect almost every day, the thermals get nice and strong in the middle of the day and the sky was full of colourful gliders.

We climbed as high as we could using the thermals, before starting to do acro and some headed off for cross-country trips on the good days. I was in my own little world as I gained height several hundred meters above the Sarangkot peak while looking at the huge Himalayan range! It's just a really good flying scene there and the lifestyle is very relaxed too.

We mainly focused to learn one acro manoeuvre at a time, to really master each trick and get comfortable with it but linking these manoeuvres is an art in itself. It was really interesting to mix up dynamic moves into stalls and spin moves and linking these together. It's like dancing in the sky!

Having the lake below our feet allowed us to really push the limits and it was a great experience meeting new pilots and learning from each other. It's all about meeting like minded people who are travelling and exploring new places and I also managed to fly with hawks!

Flying with these amazing birds is any pilot's dream and is an experience that I will never forget, I spent the whole day playing with a bird and flying together.

PS.  I love my combi lifestyle, it's great! I could just live in this thing for ever; I just don't need a house. My combi is pretty much dead now though and has no engine but it's still a good van to live in!!

Here're some pics, hope you like ‘em. The flag was a gift from a Nepali lady and it will bring me good luck in the mountains she said!  She told me to put it up early in the morning, so I built the thing at 6 in the morning just as the sun was rising. Bye guys …… Diceman”.
