“Addictions can be very, very bad but addiction itself is not bad.
It’s a case of what you’re addicted to.
You better live each day like it’s your last, ‘cos one day you’re going to be right”.
Ray Charles.
One of mine favorite places on the Earth is definitely New Zealand. It’s so easy to hang out down there, good people, beautiful scenery, awesome rivers and heli-boating on the west coast. Here are few pictures from my mission from January 2011.
We spent six weeks in New Zealand and we had a chance to make it all the way down to west coast to Nevis River and finally to the Hollyford River in Milford as well.
We had a great time, bloody good weather and sometimes juicy flows too like on the upper Hokitika or Arahura, which both change a bit after a big earthquake or some big floods.
We almost could not fit in to “Gates of Argonath” but we were absolutely stunned to be there again. Other places on west coast are unreal too, narrow canyons on Hokitika, Kokatahai or Cesspool on the Arahura.
We had a great trip; no major carnage, sometimes some problems but nothing really serious.
We spent few days around Queenstown and we did the Nevis; one of the best rivers in NZ where there is excellent car access. We did one more river the Hollyford which is definitely worth it but it’s a long, long drive.
After rain we had solid flow and good weather, so with pushy crystal clean water and rain forest around, what can be better?
Have fun ……. Honza
