Elise and Mick are skydiving instructors who are living ‘da dream. Well, our dream anyway. We have been living and jumping around the country in a big yellow Bedford bus for the last 9 years, the last 5 years of which have been in Picton just south of Sydney. We have worked at and managed skydiving drop zones in Cairns, Fiji, Innisfail, Toogoolawah, Coolum, Alice Springs and now Picton.
Sounds good? Well it is! Most of the time. Working as freelance contractors is great when it’s great. Jumping for a living is great too. 6 months ago Elise decided that adding a Skydiving Gear shop to the lifestyle was a good idea and now runs Groundrush Skydiving Gear at the Sydney Skydivers Picton drop zone.
Mick and Elise occasionally lock up and head for the hills, the Himalayas that is. With several trips to Nepal, last year’s trip to assist with Heather Swan and Glenn Singleman’s record breaking feat to BASE climb Mt Meru in the Indian Himalayas notched into their belts, Mick is putting away the parachute for a bit and heading off to climb Cho Oyo this season.
So if anyone wants to come for a skydive with us come soon or wait until after the Himalayan climbing season.
